Sizing is bullsh*t!
This is the most important piece of information we can share with you! While we like to think of ourselves as a size 4, 6, or 8…it can often put us into a negative headspace when we are forced to buy a size that is different from what we believe we are. It is NOT a reflection of your body or your worth. Please throw perceptions of size in the garbage and start thinking about the measurements of a product and how that item makes you feel when you wear it!Know your measurements
You will want to keep your waist and hip measurements handy when you’re looking at buying jeans or pants online. Here’s how you can get the most accurate measurements:
Waist: This is the smallest/narrowest part of your torso and it sits somewhere between your belly button and your boobs.
Hips: This is the widest part of your torso and is typically positioned in line with the base of your zipper.
Inseam: This is the measurement from the uppermost part of your thigh to your ankle. The number of inches, to the nearest ½”, is your inseam length.
Pay attention to size charts
The size chart for every brand can vary so don’t get hung up on the number, compare them to your own measurements to find your true fit-paying close attention to the waist, hip, and inseam measurements. Most websites will list the model’s size information to help serve as a visual guide, as well.
Measure a pair of jeans you already own and love
If you’re still feeling a little nervous about buying the right size, use your favorite pair of jeans as a guide. To get the waist size, measure the back side of the jeans and double that number. For the hips, measure along the base of the zipper and double it.
Fabric matters
When looking at rigid-fitting jeans you will want to remain as close to the measurements in the size chart compared to your measurements as possible. For stretchy jeans with approximately 2% spandex or elastane, you will have more flexibility in the sizing. For example, if your hip measurements are between two sizes on the size chart, you will be able to order the smaller size, if you choose. They will stretch and flex with your body as you wear them throughout the day.
Order multiple sizes.
When in doubt, order more than one size so you can test them in the comfort of your own home. This is also helpful when wanting to test the style with multiple shoe choices to make sure they are a versatile option for your closet. Make sure the company you are ordering from offers free and easy returns. This is where we mention that JackJack Comfort offers a free, easy 30-day return policy! Online shopping offers many benefits, including the ability to try something on and test the fit, fabric, and outfit options that work best for your personal style. We understand the fear and frustration it can bring when something doesn’t fit the way you expected-which is why we offer personal support and an easy return policy.
